Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited information handled by The Woodlands Residents Directory and the choices available to visitors. The site is a private reference to public-record resources and historical collections in The Woodlands, Texas. It does not require an account or maintain a visitor profile, and it does not keep a copy of searches sent through the search forms.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is passed to the independent provider that supplies the result function. The Woodlands Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those search terms. If you send a message, the information in that message is used to respond to the request.

Automatically Logged Information

The hosting environment records routine server information, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of access. That information is reviewed in aggregate to maintain the site and understand general use. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.

How Limited Data Is Used

The limited data described here supports site operation, error correction, aggregate traffic measurement, and page improvements. Visitor lists are not sold, and the site does not create individual visitor profiles.

Outside Sites and Search Tools

Links may lead to Montgomery County, Harris County, Texas, Township, library, archive, or third-party search services. Each outside service controls the information submitted there under its own policy. The same is true of sponsored search results provided through an independent company. Public access to a portal does not remove legal limits on protected information, including motor-vehicle data covered by the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2721-2725.

Limited Data Recipients

Providers that host or support the site may process server logs on its behalf. Analytics or advertising partners can receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure and not for unrelated purposes.

Security and Retention

The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the time reasonably needed for the purposes described here. There are no site accounts, passwords, or visitor profiles to manage or expose. No security measure can promise absolute protection, but access is limited to the operational purposes stated in this policy.

Visitors Under 18

This reference site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor has sent information through the site, contact us and it will be removed.

Texas Privacy and Record Rights

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, effective July 1, 2024, describes rights that may include confirmation, access, correction, deletion, and certain opt-out choices for qualifying personal data. It generally calls for a response within 45 days, with a possible extension and an appeal path. Because this site keeps very little, a request normally concerns a contact message or server log. Use the Contact page to make a request.

Public records held by a Township, county, or state custodian are outside this site’s control. The Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 552, governs many requests for records held by public bodies. Texas Election Code confidentiality rules, including §13.004(c) for qualifying protected addresses, and the Attorney General Address Confidentiality Program must be honored. A request to remove or correct a government-held record belongs with the office that has custody of it.

Policy Updates

Changes to this policy will appear on this page. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies from the date it is posted.
